Dr. Melissa Hubble

Dr. Melissa Hubble is a native Texan, raised in the Hill Country, whose interest in animals started with the local 4-H club, rodeos and horse shows, and her own numerous pets.  After going to Texas A&M for many 4-H camps and events, she was determined to become an Aggie Vet from about the age of 10!  After graduating from Tivy High School in Kerrville, Texas, she was accepted to Texas A&M University and earned Animal Science, Veterinary Science, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees there.  She graduated in May of 2000 and joined Equine Veterinary Associates in Conroe, Texas that summer, working for Dr. Jim Schulze and Dr. Mark Haugland.  The practice was on FM 1488 at that time, and later moved to its current location in the fall of 2014.  It was an exclusively equine practice until Dr. Schulze added the small animal clinic, known then as Woodforest Veterinary Medical Center, in August of 2017.

Because she was an equine-only veterinarian for so long, Dr. Hubble committed to re-learning companion animal medicine by attending continuing education meetings as well as shadowing friends and colleagues who were small animal veterinarians.  Some things have not changed since veterinary school, but many advancements have been made in diagnostics, medicine, surgical techniques, and preventative medicine that she has added to her knowledge and skills base.  She has taken an interest in ultrasound, radiology, and elective surgery, and supports the use of alternative medicine when applicable.  She has been most fulfilled by being some of her patients' lifelong vet, from the first foal exam or puppy & kitten vaccines to the moment they have to say goodbye, making that as peaceful and merciful as possible.

Her husband, Jason, is a deputy for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and also graduated from Texas A&M. They have two children, a daughter and a son who are 14 months apart, that keep them very busy outside of work with athletics, band, and Montgomery-Dobbin 4-H club projects.  Their own "farm" includes a horse, a small herd of meat goats, lots of laying chickens, two dogs and two cats.  When not working they try to go back to the Hill Country to visit family, go hunting or fishing, and spend time on the lake or river.  They have been members of this community for over 20 years now, and hope to see their children graduate from Lake Creek High School and become Aggies too someday!
